[movies]Maui Artists Showcase #118 - Peter H. Rosen
Segment #118 of V.A.R.I.O.U.S. Media Ink; The Maui Artists Showcase and Networking Event. Featuring video feedback with the assistance of Peter Rosen, Donna and Rick who are playing with light (and the light responds). Great fractal patterns! Its really easy to do. Just set up your video projector and point the Video camera the projector is displaying, at the display. When you rotate the camera, at just the right angel (experiment) and then play with the contrast/brightness of the projector and ...

[movies]Pulsate - Jeff Mission
Stare into the ever-changing eye of an inverted video feedback loop. By properly positioning a video camera and screen, it is possible to initiate feedback patterns that are infinitely complex and self-sustaining. In this piece, what first appears to be a simple strobe evolves slowly with time.

[movies]Timbale - Jeff Mission
This piece was performed live as part of a visual jam session held at Beatfix Studios, Boston, MA. A combination of organic motion and digital technology, 'Timbale' is a new twist on a classic lightshow technique. By using an artists' lightbox and overhead camera, hand movements are isolated and captured. The image is sent in real time to a video mixer and blended into a live feedback loop, where it creates echoes that ripple through the frame.

[movies]Benchun Live - Jeff Mission
Excerpt from a live VJ set by Jeff Mission, recorded during a performance by San Francisco breakbeat DJ benchun at I {Heart} Breaks in Boston, MA. The visuals in this mix come from a pair of custom-built cameras. One is mounted on the top-center of the DJ mixer, the other is the VJ-perspective 'Third Eye' cam. Thanks to projection screens on either side of the stage, the crowd was able to get an inside look at benchun's deck technique.

[movies]VJ vs DJ - Jeff Mission
Excerpt from a live VJ set by Jeff Mission, recorded during a performance by Boston breakbeat DJ Riverc0il at I {Heart} Breaks. One of the goals of my visual performance technique is to take the audience inside the creative process of the artists on stage, by providing perspectives that would otherwise be impossible. This mix quick-cuts between two different cameras, showing closeups of both the VJ and DJ at work.

[movies]Alien Smile - Jeff Mission
An experiment in live video feedback, "Alien Smile" was created with a flashlight, a camera, a video projector, and an Edirol V4 video mixer providing a horizontal mirror effect. First, light from the flashlight is used to create a blob of saturated feedback that forms the mouth. Next, the light is repositioned to serve as the eyes. Bobbing the flashlight up and down changes the amount of light in the feedback loop, affecting the size and shape of the alien smile...

[movies]Swim - Jeff Mission
The smooth, colorful waves in this piece were generated by chaining together two pieces of equipment - an Edirol V4 video mixer, and a JVC JX-C7 Video Corrector - in a continuous loop, then making incremental adjustments to the settings on the JX-C7. The result is a digital organism, composed of pure feedback, that can be manipulated at will. The technique used in this piece is one of the core components of my live performances...

[movies]Stomping Psy - Jeff Mission
A DJ set by Kri at Boston's monthly psy-trance event Psyforia was the backdrop for this VJ mix. The Sonic Beating crew have been tearing up dancefloors across the northeast for years, and the crowd is never shy about showing their appreciation with their feet. The video source is a combination of live camera, digital effects, and feedback.
